It would probably make sense to say the skirt has chainmail in there, with another (light) backing fabric to prevent chafing. Not the best protection, certainly not for thrusts, but better than nothing and decent at deflecting slashes.

A chain skirt would probably be a great deterrent to the errant stab and slash. Certainly enough to prevent the dickstab (Though, perhaps not the dreaded sac-tap. That would probably still get through, but that’s just life.)

I think the real question, on a serious note, if the amount of heat insulation from all the armor. unless gnolls are naturally better at taking the heat, which they probably are, there might be issues on long treks through the Savannah or desert.

Hrm, and this makes me wonder what sort of enemies Sturmyena might face. Judging from his armor here, a pretty diverse set of foemen, I would think.

I think gnolls would take the heat better naturally, being creatures of the plains and the deserts and a bit into the jungles. They’d be no strangers to blazing suns or oppressive humidity, so a bit of extra armor wouldn’t be /too/ bad for them.

Most other gnolls, it should be noted, wouldn’t start out as well-equipped as Sturm, they’d pick up better gear as Tornado Bolt lead them on their conquests, but they’d just be the rag-tag tribal raiding bands that they’re usually depicted as at first.

Sturm himself is expecting to deal with pretty much anything, and since he travels more closely with Tornado Bolt than anyone else he’d need to be equipped to deal with the same threats as her: gnolls attempting to fight for dominance, human warriors out to kill the gnoll-queen, adventurers who happen to stumble across them, skeletal warriors hanging out in treasure-laden tombs, that sort of thing. Basically a whole DnD campaign is what he’d be expecting to encounter.
